After working long hours - in ANY profession, it is not easy to come home and cook/eat a nutritious meal. Guess what, as hard as it is to "give up control" sometimes, we all need help... helping hand, trusting friend, listening ear, encouraging word... just fellowship in general. The older I become, the more I realize that we are not creatures of solitude... but better in teams: friends, family, relationships... the immature compete against one another in a selfish manner... the mature empower one another in love.
Keeping your refrigerator stocked with fresh veggies, fruits, lean meats, whole grains and dairy products will allow you to fuel your body with healthy fuel. On a day-to-day basis, consume as many colors are possible. On the weekends, indulge in what you truly love. Keeping portion control in mind, of course, yet, do not deny yourself the pleasure of cuisine. Granted, allergies are one thing... but trying new foods can be an adventure in and of itself.
Remember that in life: 20% exercise and 80% diet. Mix up the gym workouts... dancing, swimming, rollerblading, horseback riding, running, lifting, basketball, soccer, etc. In order to maintain your current weight, doctors recommend at least 30 minutes of some type of activity with an active heartbeat. Muscle confusion will allow you to enjoy a plethora of different activities in life.

I continue to encourage you to at least try juicing. I make fresh fruit/veggie concoctions daily with my Breville Elite... and enjoy the immediate surge of energy into my bloodstream.
