"Always look up"

"Always look up"

Whilst living in London and Paris, one common piece of advice was to "always look up." Now this sound counsel could definitely be applied towards maintaining a positive attitude... But in retrospect, it was geared towards the architecture, beauty and historical attributes of the cities.

Art exists everywhere- in nature, architecture, jewelry, rugs, furniture, etc. As a creator, we formulate an idea in our mind... Then use whatever medium we are gifted in in order to execute and make it tangible/give it life.

As a chef, you are an artist. A white plate is your canvas. When making food aesthetically pleasing, people automatically gravitate towards the presentation. Now, if you can make it healthy and absolutely mouthwatering too...

Think colors. A bell pepper. Red, yellow, orange, green. Now yes, green bell peppers taste significantly different from their more warm-colored relatives. However, by incorporating more colors into your plates, they not only look more beautiful, but a rainbow of colors into your diet provides more nutrients to your body.

Micro-greens can either be grown at home or purchased at your specialty grocery stores. Edible flowers, the same. Fresh veggies tossed in extra virgin olive oil, sprinkle of crushed sea salt and drizzle of lemon juice... Simple, yet beautiful.

“If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.” - J.R.R. Tolkien

Love y'all dearly!
