French Toast is an easy and festive breakfast to make in a short amount of time. Almost any type of bread can be used when cooking on the stovetop... Whole wheat, white, French baguette, English Muffin, Challah bread, nine-grain, homemade, etc. In a bowl, whisk three eggs together. While continuing to stir, add 1cup cream (or milk), 1/4cup sugar, 1Tbsp vanilla bean paste, and orange and lemon zest. Heat a sauté pan or griddle on medium head with melted butter/oil on bottom of pan. Slice bread into pieces, about 1inch thick and emerge into egg mixture. When fully coated, place "wet toast" on sauté pan/griddle. Cook until golden brown, then flip and cook again, until golden brown. Cooking process is determinate on how thick your bread was cut, temperature of sauté pan/griddle, etc. A perfect duo of sauces to pair with French toast include creme anglaise and caramel. Fresh fruit not only provides gorgeous colors, but a natural sweetness as well. May top with a dusting of powdered sugar, as well as copious amounts of love.
Love y'all!! ♥
