Sushi
Sushi is a fun, healthy and easy way to incorporate vegetables into your diet. Not only is it an entertaining activity to prepare with friends, but the number of possibilities and combinations of sushi are limitless. The key to sushi is the sticky rice. While white rice is commonly used, brown rice may also replace the white starch (it is not as sticky as white, but better for you). After cooking rice in a rice cooker/stove top, allow to cool for 10minites... Then tablespoon by tablespoon, fold in sugar, salt and rice vinegar (1.5 cups rice, 2Tbsp sugar, 2tsp salt and 2/3cups rice vinegar). It is essential to have a bowl of water with a few drop of vinegar to keep your hands moist. Rolling sushi is an art, although the more practice, the better you will become. I taught my students yesterday to make smoked salmon, California and hand rolls... I was incredibly impressed at their enthusiasm, talent and loved watching them build confidence in the kitchen. I would highly recommend taking a class, for those who have never mad sushi... It truly is a wonderful bonding activity for friends and loved ones to share... Love y'all!! ♥
